Product Guide

Our Financial Markets Products, One by One

Each instrument below is described on its own: what it does, how it is priced and settled, the tenors we quote and the treasury problem it solves. Terms are indicative and addressed to professional and institutional clients; every transaction is documented under market-standard agreements and reported under EMIR.

Product family 01 — Foreign exchange

Foreign Exchange & Cross-Currency Hedging

Six instruments covering every horizon of currency exposure, from settlement later this week to ten-year balance-sheet hedging, in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CNY, CNH and the other G10 currencies.

6 instruments
SPOT T+2

FX Spot

Outright purchase or sale of one currency against another at today's rate, settled two business days later. Our dealers quote directly off the interbank market in EUR/CNY, EUR/CNH, USD/CNY and all major crosses, with same-day value available on request for EUR and USD.

Typical tenor
Value T+2 (same-day on request)
Settlement
Physical delivery, gross or net
Best suited for
Paying invoices, repatriating dividends, funding accounts
FWD Bilateral

Deliverable FX Forward

Fixes today the exchange rate for a purchase or sale of currency on a chosen future date. The forward rate is the spot rate adjusted for the interest-rate differential between the two currencies, so the hedge carries no premium and removes rate uncertainty from a known payable or receivable. Window forwards allow delivery at any time within an agreed period.

Typical tenor
1 week – 24 months (longer case by case)
Settlement
Physical delivery of both currencies
Best suited for
Import/export contracts, budget-rate hedging, dividends
NDF Cash-settled

Non-Deliverable Forward (NDF)

A forward for currencies that cannot be freely delivered offshore, above all onshore renminbi (CNY). No principal changes hands: at maturity the difference between the contracted rate and the official fixing is settled in EUR or USD. It hedges CNY-denominated exposures from Luxembourg without an onshore account.

Typical tenor
1 – 12 months (up to 24 months in CNY)
Settlement
Net cash settlement in EUR or USD against the fixing
Best suited for
CNY payables and receivables, intercompany loans in CNY
FX SWAP Bilateral

FX Swap

Combines a spot transaction with an opposite forward: two currencies are exchanged today and the exchange is reversed at a fixed rate on a later date. Used to bridge a temporary surplus in one currency against a shortfall in another, to roll an existing hedge to a new date, or to fund a CNH balance from EUR without taking currency risk.

Typical tenor
Overnight – 12 months
Settlement
Two physical legs: near date and far date
Best suited for
Liquidity management across currencies, rolling hedges
CCS ISDA + CSA

Cross-Currency Swap (CCS)

A long-dated exchange of principal and interest payments in two currencies, typically to convert a loan or bond raised in one currency into synthetic funding in another. A European group can raise EUR and swap it into CNH to fund a Chinese subsidiary, or an issuer can swap Dim Sum bond proceeds back into EUR, with fixed-to-fixed, fixed-to-floating or floating-to-floating legs.

Typical tenor
2 – 10 years (15 years case by case)
Settlement
Initial and final principal exchange plus periodic coupons
Best suited for
Cross-border acquisition financing, bond proceeds, intercompany funding
OPT MiFID II

FX Options & Zero-Cost Collars

A vanilla option gives the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell currency at a set strike on a set date, against an upfront premium: the worst case is locked in while favourable moves remain available. Combining a bought and a sold option into a collar brackets the rate within a band, often at zero net premium. Offered to professional clients after a suitability and appropriateness assessment.

Typical tenor
1 week – 24 months
Settlement
Physical delivery or cash settlement at expiry
Best suited for
Uncertain tenders and forecasts, budget-rate protection with upside
Product family 02 — Interest rates

Interest Rate Risk Management

Five instruments that fix, cap or bracket the cost of floating-rate borrowing across EURIBOR, €STR, SOFR, SONIA and SHIBOR, sized and dated to match the underlying loan.

5 instruments
IRS ISDA + CSA

Interest Rate Swap (IRS)

Exchanges a floating benchmark payment for a fixed rate on an agreed notional, without changing the underlying loan. A borrower on 3-month EURIBOR pays us a fixed rate and receives EURIBOR, so the all-in cost of the loan is known for the life of the hedge. Amortising and forward-starting profiles follow the drawdown and repayment schedule of the financing.

Typical tenor
1 – 15 years
Settlement
Net periodic cash flows, quarterly or semi-annual
Best suited for
Term loans, real-estate and project finance, fixing the cost of debt
CAP ISDA

Interest Rate Cap

Sets a ceiling on a floating rate in return for an upfront premium. Whenever the benchmark fixes above the strike, we pay the difference on the notional; when rates stay below the strike the borrower simply continues to benefit from the lower rate. A cap is insurance against rising rates that keeps full participation in falling rates.

Typical tenor
1 – 10 years
Settlement
Premium upfront; payouts per fixing period
Best suited for
Borrowers who want protection but expect rates to fall
COLLAR ISDA

Interest Rate Collar

Combines a purchased cap with a sold floor so the floating rate can move only within a defined band. The premium received for the floor offsets the premium paid for the cap, which is why most collars are structured at zero cost. The borrower gives up part of the benefit of a rate fall in exchange for free protection against a rise.

Typical tenor
1 – 10 years
Settlement
Zero or reduced premium; net payouts per fixing period
Best suited for
Cost-conscious hedging of floating-rate loans
SWPT ISDA

Swaption

An option to enter into an interest rate swap at a pre-agreed fixed rate on a future date. It secures the hedge rate for a financing that has not yet been signed, such as an acquisition or a construction facility, and may simply be allowed to lapse if the transaction does not proceed or if rates have moved favourably.

Typical tenor
Option of 1 – 24 months into swaps of 2 – 10 years
Settlement
Premium upfront; physical or cash settlement at expiry
Best suited for
Pre-hedging acquisitions, refinancings and pipeline transactions
FRA ISDA

Forward Rate Agreement (FRA)

Locks in the interest rate for a single future period, typically three or six months starting up to a year ahead. At the start of the period the difference between the agreed rate and the benchmark fixing is settled in cash. A FRA is the simplest way to hedge one rollover of a short-term loan or deposit.

Typical tenor
Periods of 1 – 12 months starting up to 12 months ahead
Settlement
Single net cash settlement at the fixing date
Best suited for
Hedging one loan rollover or a short funding gap
Product family 03 — Money market & liquidity

Money Market, Deposits & Liquidity

Five ways to place surplus cash for a day or a year, in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF and CNH, balancing yield, access and deposit protection.

5 products
TD FGDL eligible

Fixed-Term Deposit

Cash placed for a fixed period at a rate agreed at the outset and paid at maturity. Available from overnight to twelve months in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF and CNH, with automatic rollover or transfer of the proceeds on request. Deposits of eligible depositors are covered by the Luxembourg deposit guarantee scheme (FGDL) up to EUR 100,000.

Typical tenor
Overnight – 12 months
Settlement
Principal and interest at maturity
Best suited for
Planned surplus cash with a known return date
NOTICE FGDL eligible

Institutional Notice Account

An interest-bearing account with no fixed maturity: funds are released after a notice period of 31, 62 or 95 days. The longer the notice, the higher the rate, and the balance can be increased at any time. It suits reserves that are not needed immediately but should not be locked away for a fixed term.

Typical tenor
Open-ended, 31 / 62 / 95-day notice
Settlement
Interest credited monthly or quarterly
Best suited for
Operating reserves, regulatory buffers, sinking funds
CD Negotiable

Certificate of Deposit (CD)

A negotiable term deposit issued by the bank in registered form. Unlike a plain deposit it can be sold before maturity in the secondary market, so the holder keeps access to liquidity without breaking the placement. Issued in EUR and USD in denominations from EUR 500,000 or equivalent.

Typical tenor
1 – 12 months
Settlement
Delivery versus payment via Clearstream or Euroclear
Best suited for
Treasury portfolios that must stay liquid and marketable
DCI MiFID II

Dual-Currency Investment (DCI)

A short-term deposit combined with a sold currency option. The investor earns an enhanced coupon and accepts that, if the exchange rate crosses the agreed conversion level at maturity, principal and interest are repaid in the alternate currency at that level. Capital is not protected against currency movements, so the product is reserved for professional clients who can use both currencies.

Typical tenor
1 week – 6 months
Settlement
Repaid in the base or the alternate currency at maturity
Best suited for
Treasurers with genuine needs in both currencies seeking higher yield
REPO GMRA

Repo & Reverse Repo

A sale of high-quality securities with a commitment to repurchase them at a set price on a later date, economically a secured loan. Clients holding government or covered bonds can raise short-term cash against them (repo), or place cash on a collateralised basis (reverse repo), documented under the Global Master Repurchase Agreement.

Typical tenor
Overnight – 3 months
Settlement
Delivery versus payment, daily margining
Best suited for
Secured funding and collateralised cash placement
